Alex is a cynical college student; a sarcastic, hypocritical, humorous, thoughtless, problematic, egomaniac. Unabashedly blunt, he goes through the days stuck in his own mind and bothered by nearly everything mundane outside of it. In his world, he is always right and everyone else is wrong. Each day is the same. Each day is different. Each day is a new adventure with new problems and new fantasies. New ups. New downs. The cycles and routines of college life – a period just removed from childhood yet not quite considered adulthood – constantly present the youth with all things grand and miniscule. And through the eyes of Alex, the world is one enduring cycle of nonsense and annoyance; and he gets by each day in the one way he knows how: with critical wit and a wild imagination. It's safe to say that almost everything Alex encounters perturbs him. The only thing he does hold dear is the ex-girlfriend he chased away and still harbors strong feelings for and plans to win her back. As Alex goes through the everyday motions he contemplates the mysterious, the wondrous and the unobtainable, but mostly, what he wants out of life. One way or another, Alex must uncover what exactly it takes to change a man and, in the end, is it worth changing at all? He must learn what others view through hindsight as the comedy of youth.
