After the traumatic loss of his daughter, 60 year old Englishman, George Woods, has wilfully abstracted himself from the modern world. However, in order to pay back the debt incurred paying for her healthcare, George has found himself doing courier work for the less than salubrious all round fixer and West London wide man, Sammy Sullivan. George has one more job to do for Sammy before the debt is paid off. But when the police come sniffing, under the auspices of one D.I. Nevins, George decides he wants out. Sammy won't hear of it, ordering George to take a trip to Amsterdam in order to pick up an incriminating videotape. George decides to send someone on his behalf, a chancer by the name of Terry Leach. But when Terry is found in an Amsterdam hotel room badly beaten up and with plastic orange stuffed in his mouth, George realises he has no option but to sort matters out himself. In doing so he is forced to re-engage with a world that has changed beyond all George's recognition. Whether he can negotiate it successfully is up to him. Both satirical and poignant, 'Clean Skin' is an examination of a fast fading Britain trying to hold on to its identity, while at the same time wondering if such a thing has any worth.
