VALUE THE BLESSINGS IN HAND, NOT THOSE LOST.  This short provides a Christmas story with a different twist.  Four entities named David, a heartbroken wife and a family of confused children.  These characteristics are all part of this short story entitled “Christmas For David.”  This story is about a family secret that has been maintained for many years.  The storyline opens with Autumn discovering that an oak tree that she planted years before maybe dying.  She pulls out all the stops to determine why the tree is slowly dying.  The Christmas holiday is approaching and Autumn; a mother and housewife become extremely stressed over the tree’s dilemma.  This little incident leads her to face an ordeal that could put her in a state that no one could have predicted.  Her emotional connection to the tree is something that no one suspected, not even her husband.  Christmas is the one season that Autumn looked at with mixed feelings.  It reminds her of a tragedy and yet it is the season in which she celebrates the birth of the Christ child.  Christmas may never be the same for her or the rest of the family once the secret is disclosed.  The coming days will not be pleasant for Autumn or her family as they watch her agonize over what Autumn sees as a major disaster.  This is a story for all times and wonderfully written.  “Christmas For David” is a story that will stay with the reader forever and will provoke deep thoughts on the part of the reader about their values and what’s important.
