Charlie, a large, devilish handsome dog, with thick golden blonde fur and a very waggy brush tail, and Mrs Honey a tiny old lady with white hair and a very kind face live very happily together in Rose cottage in the village of Fydd.

It’s Autumn and the Circus Maximoso comes to the village for its last performances before Winter closure. But all is not well. The circus owner, The Great Superbo Maximoso, an old friend of Mrs Honey, is in a fix and has to sell some of his animals to a zoo. This is not good news to everyone, although the lions are rather looking forward to unlimited snoozing with no pesky performances. But one family that isn’t happy are the elephants and young Emmy elephant runs away. And to top it all, Charlie’s good friend Nigel, the shire horse is depressed.

Can the circus be saved? Will Emmy be found? Can Charlie find out what is upsetting Nigel?
Perhaps – with help from some friends.
