Carla's Double Harvest

Carla Banks, a vivacious, self-reliant single mother, successfully advances through the ranks in her career with the federal government. Blessed with a generous salary, she maintains a comfortable lifestyle for herself and her three-year-old daughter, Lola. One might easily presume that she has everything a woman could want, right? Well, not exactly. Although romantic at heart, Carla keeps herself busy and ignores the missing link in her near-perfect life. That is until one day, during a chance visit to the supermarket, she literally stumbles into a whirlwind romance. Carla marries her Prince Charming, and they add three more daughters to their family. As the years pass by, her daughters grow into beautiful, intelligent, and independent young women. After empty nest sets in, Carla struggles to redefine a new life for herself. She develops feelings of inadequacy and a distorted self-image, which leads her to a well-kept secret she hides for many years! But Carla embarks on a self-disclosing journey, one that ultimately shines a bright light on the culprits of her disappointment, discontentment, and even depression. One morning, she beholds a special sunrise and experiences an awakening from God. She discovers that being a stay-at-home mother does not define who she is any more than her career did. Soon, she realizes that her richest rewards are intricately woven in her struggles and pain. Her difficult times and her blessings are all part of God’s plans that ultimately lead her to her destiny and bring Carla a “double harvest!”
