The California Gold Rush began in early 1848 when gold was discovered by James Marshall at Sutter's Mill. To avoid these charges he flees to America, where he begins a cross-country trek to the California gold fields. Despite the arduous journey, he makes it to California only to discover that his difficulties have just begun.
