In compiling, writing, and illustrating the most important event that marked the History of Canada each year since Confederation, the author restricted his choices to history, political, economic, and cultural phenomena.
In the 1960s, the author acquired hundreds of clippings, magazines, encyclopaedias, and history books pertaining to Canada’s history. He had contemplated preparing a special project for Canada’s Centennial with them, but was forced to drop the idea for lack of time.
In retirement, he was urged by his wife Pierrette, who saw his archives lingering in filing cabinets and his personal library, to get to work on his project. He did so at the end of 2012. This is the result.
Dans ce livre, pour chaque année depuis la Confédération en 1867, l’auteur présente et illustre le moment qui a marqué l’histoire sociale, politique ou économique de notre pays.
Depuis les années 1960, l’auteur a constitué ses archives personnelles à même les journaux, les magazines, les encyclopédies et les livres d’histoire. Il avait envisagé de publier son livre pour le centenaire de la Confédération, mais le temps lui a manqué. C’est son épouse qui l’incita à reprendre la plume pour le cent cinquantenaire ou à abandonner l’idée!
C’est ainsi qu’à la fin de 2012, maintenant à la retraite, l’auteur se mit au travail et en voici le résultat.
