All they needed was a natural disaster and they’d all be living on easy street. As mayor of Sweet Spot, Mississippi, a pathetic collection of dilapidated shacks and underachievers situated smack-dab on the very buckle of the tornado belt, Buck Jones believes it’s his civic duty on behalf of his little town of antigovernment moonshiners, gun-toting preppers, and born again meth addicts, to score some of that sweet federal aid being thrown around so freely. Well, Buck Jones may be a man of vision, but the last thing he envisions is falling madly in lust with Jennifer Steele, that spitfire journalist from CNN who arrives when Buck’s prayers are answered by a crew of naive Yankee reporters assigned to cover tornado victims in the rural South. Fireworks abound between the redneck flimflam man and the bleeding-heart city girl as the scheme to defraud the government threatens to blow up in their faces and the town’s very existence is imperiled by a thoroughly peeved Mother Nature who finally sends Sweet Spot’s chickens home to roost. In the end, it may be up to small town U.S.A. to save the day, but it’s up to Buck to get the girl.
