Newlyweds Audrey and David Bacon leave the comfort of the modern world and settle into the remote region of Bolivia, where they serve as missionaries with the newly formed New Tribes Mission. Soon David and four other men travel deep into the jungle to search for the Ayoré Indians, a primitive group who, apart from the effort of God’s willing servants, would never hear the message of the Gospel.

Audrey waits in a nearby village, resilient and hopeful. And expecting a baby. Before departing on the mission, David chooses a name for a girl. On a supply run to the city, he purchases a tiny dress. But he misses the birth of his daughter.

Avis Marie, named according to father’s instructions, draws her first breath in the lush green wilderness of Bolivia. Her mother will not abandon the call to reach and serve the native people, or give up hope that her husband might one day walk out of the jungle.
