A chance encounter while swimming off the beach at Brighton, England results in frustration for Oliver as he longs for love.

Funny and touching, Oliver visits Brighton Beach one hot summer's day with his best friend, and while swimming, meets Martin, a handsome man his own age. They get on, in the water and out of it, until Oliver begins to hope for more. As summer ends and they meet during a cold autumn in London, Oliver realises Martin is a troubled man and is unable to respond to him. And while he suffers in his own job, with threatening colleagues and a promised departmental restructuring , Oliver looks for a way to capture the magic of that first moment when he first met Martin in glittering, warm water, that summer on Brighton Beach.
