Worm, fresh out of prison, decides to get himself back into the legal profession. Unfortunately, no law society is particularly keen on accrediting a demon who last practiced law 200 years ago, and hasn't been in a courtroom since (apart from that one time, which is probably best forgotten about). Worm's only option: return to university to re-earn his law degree.
Worm finds that the law has changed drastically since he was last in practice, and the demographics within the legal profession have taken a worrying turn. Quite apart from his studies, Worm has other problems: for one, he has no money to pay his tuition. For another, his room-mate takes being the strong, silent type to the extreme.
The demon bands together with a group of his classmates: a human, a shapeshifter, a dwarf, a genius, and a pyromancer. The unlikely friends are forced together by necessity: they need Worm to protect them from a group within the law school who want them all to leave, and Worm needs their assistance in finding a hidden - but hopefully profitable - treasure in the university's catacombs. The question the group must ask themselves is: how much can they really trust their new demonic classmate?
BookWorm is the second instalment in the Worm saga.
