From the author: My birth mother died of cancer when I was eleven. I was in my forties before I was able to completely grieve that experience. I wrote this story in the hopes of helping someone else that might be in a similar situation. As I began sharing an early rough draft with friends, it was photocopied and circulated through the hospice community.
