In 1788, Shanadee, a young Beothuk girl, has her first violent encounter with the White Man. In the coming days and years it will happen again and again as her family desperately struggles to survive in the harsh Newfoundland environment, while suffering the relentless harassment of the white settlers. We join her family as they unwittingly make their journey into extinction.

At the end of book 1 in the Red Indian series Shanawdithit and her two companions were captured by the white man. At that time there were 15 Beothuk. This book chronicles their futile struggle for survival.

Having no access to pencil and paper, the Beothuk passed on the story of their families by word of mouth. This book record the stories of Shanadee and Kiradittii, as told so many times around the family campfire.
