Marcus has written many works over the last thirty years, but he considers poetry the most private and deliberate of all art forms and rarely shares what he has written. Black Bertha, his ode to Edgar Allan Poe, is not contained in this collection.

Synchronicity is a second short story collection by Marcus McGee, following Four Stories. This book contains some of the author's favorite works, including The Club, Estéban and Synchronicity. It also includes his earliest short stories, Mister Peacock, Till Death Do Us Part and Anthropophagi. It finishes with three blank verse parables, Coat of Black, The Thinking Man and The Crab Story.

The Silk Noose is the third short story collection by Marcus McGee, following Four Stories and Synchronicity. By far his most eclectic collection, it contains his usual twisted stories, including Denouément, Dork and The Silk Noose but it also includes a parable, an operatic libretto and three essays, On Niggers and Squirrels most personal to the author among them.

First published in 1998, Four Stories is the first short story collection written by Marcus McGee, a favorite for readers who appreciate the author's twisted humor. The stories are loosely autobiographical and center on issues involving family life. Yet they illustrate how political family life can become at times.
