According to Wikipedia: "Izaak Walton (9 August 1593 15 December 1683) was an English writer. Best known as the author of The Compleat Angler, he also wrote a number of short biographies which have been collected under the title of Walton's Lives."

Subtitled “A Contemplative Man’s Recreation.” In 1653 Izaak Walton first published this compendium of information, anecdotes, lore, song, quotations, and verse about fishing. Walton was then aided by his friend Charles Cotton in coming out with new editions over the next 25 years. Of course, this classic literary work includes plenty of tips on fishing, bait, lines, flies, and more.

First Published in 1653, Izaak Walton's "The Compleat Angler" is a much loved treatise on the art of fishing. In the 1676 edition of the book, Charles Cotton added a second part thus expanding the volume. Those two parts are included here in this edition. "The Compleat Angler" is a classic of fishing literature and a copy belongs in the library of any true sportsman.
