In most societies, poetry was once a thing for the indulgence of the elite minds alone. Cloaked in rigorous and bogus words which alienated most of the rest of society. But the beauty of the depth, rhythm, and mystery of poetry should be for all to appreciate. Poetry has a way of churning our souls with simple words whose meaning sets us rightly on a path of deep awareness. In Birds Eye, the young poet Sally Williams passionately weaves a bridge between classical poetry and contemporary poetry (spoken word) in a way that makes it easy for all to savour yet preserve the essence of poetry itself.
