ABOUT THE BOOK

Say the name “Tom Cruise” in a crowded room and you’ll see a range of reactions. To some, he is beloved for his early roles in hit movies – like the 80s classic Risky Business, in which he played a cash-strapped teen left unsupervised by his parents. Tom’s famous dance scene, in which he’s scantily clad in just underwear and socks, cemented his status as a sex symbol, and he kept it alive in more recent films like Jerry Maguire and the hugely successful Mission Impossible series. Others see Tom as a kooky celebrity whose involvement in Scientology and emotional outbursts regarding his high-profile marriage to fellow actor Katie Holmes have made him the subject of tabloid mockery.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Becky Bowden is a published author and online women's magazine editor based in a small seaside town in Somerset UK, where she lives with her husband and their nine-year-old daughter. A love of all things related to celebrity gossip, cult TV, and pop culture means that Becky is always up to speed with the latest Hollywood happenings and the hottest, must-read news from around the globe.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

Tom’s first wife was actress Mimi Rogers, whom he married in 1987 but later divorced in 1990. He then went on to propose to actress Nicole Kidman (his co-star in Days of Thunder and Eyes Wide Shut), and during their time together from 1990 to 2001 the couple adopted two children, Isabella and Connor. They are still regularly photographed together at family events and gatherings, but Tom has rarely been seen out with Nicole since their divorce.

It was not until 2006, when Tom Cruise fell in love with and married actress Katie Holmes, that public interest in his personal life really went into overdrive. Suddenly everyone wanted to know more about this super stylish couple, and Tom was all too willing to talk about their relationship. We all remember that classic Oprah moment when Tom shocked viewers and even Oprah herself by leaping up and down on the sofa and professing his love for the Dawson’s Creek star. The birth of their daughter, Suri Cruise, in 2006, only increased the public’s obsession with the couple, and they soon found themselves dubbed ‘TomKat’ by the press.
