The Pandavas and the Kauravas are returning to modern world in a different outlook but with same powers in this book “Barbarika”. While the Hindu Mythology says it is because of the boon Krishna gave to the “greatest warrior of the Dwapara Yuga” Barbarika, Science says it is because of an epigenetics experiment conducted by “Master of Epigenetics” Vishaka. The Kurushetra War begins here between Shyam and Dr. Meghvarna to attain the power every man wants.

Experts Review:

The author of this book, Hariharan Raju, is one such person, though he is younger than me, his knowledge of Mahabharatha has made me respect him with benevolence. My knowledge of Mahabharatha stopped at Bhima and his son Ghatotkacha.

But Hariharan Raju has researched further, the life of Barbarika, Ghatotkacha’s son and added his creativity to it and has come up with this wonderful book.

If Barbarika had used his boons in the war, we wouldn’t have had a Mahabharatha at all. That is why Shakuni’s elder brother in strategies, Kannan, stopped Barbarika from using his boon. Some of you might have been offended by me calling Shakuni as Krishna’s sibling, but in truth it is a credit given to his strategical move. So far I had thought of Mahabharatha as a great scientific epic covering the concepts of test tube babies. But now I am stunned to know that it has references to usage of cloning as well. Now, if I start explaining all this, I would break the suspense the novel holds for you. So I request you to continue reading the book to know more.

Hariharan Raju’s desire to make the current generation people to get the essence of Mahabharata instead of western fantasy is really an appreciable task and feels the need for it.

Even though this is a fiction book, Hariharan never compromised on the logics behind every sequence in the story particularly with genetics part. He is a quick learner and delivers the genetics sequence with utmost perfection without compromising the thrills of the fantasy story. Happy to see that his book deals with Epigenetics, Dynamic Mutations, Phenotype- Genotype, in a simpler way that every reader can get to know the basics of genetics.

India has been the land of myths of all kinds and stories. It has got as many stories as trees on its landscapes. More many stories were told orally and passed on to generations and generations. Alas, all of them had vanished in the air and gone. Or maybe still whispering in somebody’s inner mind. One such story, Mr. Hariharan has chosen and interpreted, and spun interestingly across the time and space and created a new world and made the legendary characters to roam around and evolve an eternal love story. He brought me this story to make a film out of it. Definitely someday Shyam and Radha will become alive on the screen to reveal their eternal love story. I appreciate Hariharan for taking a piece of our own epic and made it a universal love story.
