A Little Laughter. A Little Mayhem. A Little MURDER . . .

BAD BLOOD # 7 in the 15-strong Rafferty and Llewellyn cozy mystery series

'Like its stars, it's reliable and consistently satisfying.' Booklist on Bad Blood and the Rafferty series.

ABOUT THE SERIES
DI Joe Rafferty, working-class lapsed Catholic, is cursed by coming from a family who think - if he must be a copper - he might at least have the decency to be a bent one. When you add the middle-class, moralistic intellectual DS Dafyd Llewellyn to the brew the result is murder with plenty of laughs for the reader and plenty of angst for Rafferty..

Synopsis
Investigating the murder of wealthy widow Clara Mortimer, estranged from her family and living alone in an upmarket sheltered apartment, Rafferty fears his own family estrangement.

Because when Abra, his girlfriend, said she might be pregnant, his reaction wasn’t exactly New Man…

Between the grudges of Clara’s estranged family and those of her adoptive ‘family’ – the other apartment residents – Rafferty has suspects and questions in plenty.

Why had the sensible Clara Mortimer chosen to open her door to a burglar, for instance?

When he considers the awful lies her family tells, how can he not conclude they have something to hide?

Reviews for Geraldine Evans's Rafferty & Llewellyn humorous crime series:

BAD BLOOD #7
'A spirited mix of detection, family drama and social commentary.'
KIRKUS

R C Bridgestock
‘Another excellent spirited mix of detection and family drama with plenty of suspects to muse over. It's another page-turner from Geraldine Evans in my opinion the English crime writing queen herself.’

DEAD BEFORE MORNING #1
'This often comic tale sharpens the appetite for more.'
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

THE HANGING TREE #4
‘Great book! A wonderfully entertaining read. All the clues are there, set out honestly and fairly, yet the identity of the killer still comes as a surprise. I got one of those "of course - I should have known!" moments at the denouement. Crime writing at its best.’
REVIEW BY JAMES GRACIE

'Evans' humor seriously added to my enjoyment of her book. The series has stand out central characters and clever plots'
AUNT AGATHA'S BOOKSHOP,  ANN ARBOR

DEADLY REUNION #14
'This is another excellent entry in this marvellous series. The characters spring off the page. The dialogue is sparkling, great interplay between the two detectives, and the mystery intriguing to the end.’
EUROCRIME

DYING FOR YOU #6
'It's bad enough being suspected of a double murder, worse still when it's your alter ego being pursued and it's the pits when you are the policeman in charge of supposedly catching yourself. I savoured this book and I'm keen to read the rest in the series asap.'
EUROCRIME

LOVE LIES BLEEDING #8
'This cleverly-plotted tale has plenty of humour. It's another page-turner from Geraldine Evans and is crime writing at its best. A must for all lovers of the genre.'

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Geraldine Evans is a Londoner but moved to Norfolk in 2000. She has been writing since her twenties, but it was only when she hit the milestone age of thirty that she actually began finishing anything. She then wrote a novel a year for six years before she was published. That first published novel was a romance, but she then switched to crime and DEAD BEFORE MORNING, the first book in what became her now 15-strong Rafferty & Llewellyn cozy procedural series (currently only 77p / $1.15 / Euro 0,89) was taken from Macmillan's slush pile and published. They sold it in turn to St Martin's Press and Worldwide (pb). Her other publishers include Hale, Severn House and Isis (audio).

And thus began a writing career covering eighteen traditionally-published and two indie-published novels with most of her backlist also available as digital books. Geraldine Evans decided to turn down her publisher's latest contract late in 2010 after reading various blogs (Joe Konrath's, in particular) about self-publishing. It was the information that writers could actually earn a proper living that attracted her. And do you know? They were right! Goodbye hated day job! Hello freedom and joy in your work. As 'Del Boy' would say: 'Lovely jubbly'!
