This regulation, AR 600-9 The Army Body Composition Program, implements guidance in Department of Defense Instruction 1308.3, which implements policy and prescribes procedures governing physical fitness and weight/body fat standards in the Services.
This regulation applies to the Active Army, The Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwise stated.
The proponent of this regulation is the Deputy Chief of Staff, G–1. The proponent has the authority to approve exceptions or waivers to this regulation that are consistent with controlling law and regulations. The proponent may delegate this
This regulation establishes policies and procedures for the implementation of the Army Body Composition Program
(ABCP). The primary objective of the ABCP is to ensure all Soldiers achieve and maintain optimal well-being and performance under all conditions.
Secondary objectives of the ABCP are to assist in establishing and maintaining operational readiness, physical fitness, health, and a professional military appearance in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 670–1.
