An American Idyll: The Life of Carleton H. Parker is one of the nonfiction best sellers during 1919-1920. Carleton H. Parker died at the age of 40. Following his death in 1918, the book of his biography was written by his widow, Cornelia Stratton Parker.
Carleton H. Parker was a journalist and a bond trader. His academic career started at UC-San Francisco where he lectured Economics. He had the sympathy for the I. W. W. and the laboring classes. However, he was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the State Immigration and Housing Commission of California. He was also assigned by the U.S. Government to investigate the Ford & Suhr case.
