Jordan Stone glanced at the pretty blond woman sitting rigidly beside him in the backseat of the Town Car. Her blue eyes stared straight ahead. Her elegant hands clasped each other in a death grip. She looked like she was on her way to her own execution.

He longed to slip a protective arm around her shoulder and pull her close, but he kept his arms at his sides. He was her bodyguard. Nothing more and nothing less. That could be their only relationship.

Elizabeth Weston was the key witness against Kishwar Samara, the man who had plotted to blow up the National Archives. And Jordan's job was to keep her alive long enough to testify.

Frank Decorah had assigned a team of operatives to alternate guard duty. Primarily Jordan and Emma Richards, their top female agent. Jordan knew the two women had become friends.
