Canadian-born performers are part of the landscape of the theatre capital of the world. Here are a few of the great names that made stage, small- and large-screen history. Marie Dressler (who emerged from vaudeville to film immortality and an Academy Award); Walter Huston (who also cut his teeth in vaudeville and became a Broadway star before conquering Hollywood); Galt MacDermot (who set the musical theatre on its ear with a show called Hair); Bernard Slade (author of the most-performed two-character play in history, Same Time Next Year).
