 Allen Iverson: The Journey of His Life

Allen expanded up in the projects as the son of a 15-year old single mom. Their house in Hampton, Virginia lay on top of the city's sewers. Whenever they burst, the flooring would be covered with sewage. Iverson's biological dad who stayed in Connecticut (where the household lived prior to Allen was born), never played any function in his life, and earlier this year, pledged guilty to stabbing a previous girlfriend. Quickly after being born his parental grandma-- commonly the pillar in an inner-city household-- died as well.

Mother Ann had a hard time making ends fulfill, and the house was often without water or electricity since of unpaid costs. "She did whatever she had to do," Allen explains, while declining to clarify on that puzzling statement. Maturing, Iverson was commonly responsible for taking care of his younger sisters Brandy (born 1979) and Iiesha (1991), which was particularly hard with the kid, who suffered regular seizures.
