The pieces are without affectation, representing an eyewitness, but generally apolitical perspective, on the impact of Israeli occupation on Palestinian daily life. Both Harry Katz, who edited the volume, and Marian Saadeh, believe that the essays speak for themselves in their honest and unadorned picture of life in the Holy Land from a variety of perspectives: students; artisans; housewives, historians, and everyday people .
