This is a devastating read. The most challenging re-evaluation of the Bible I know. But it's more than that. A History of Imperial Bullshit reveals the corrupting influence elite imperialists had on ancient and medieval history and how they dictated the very contents of the literature and scriptures we treasure. Bullshit even makes a compelling argument that the imperial spirit of the scriptures and of pre-modern literature continues to have a corrupting influence on the modern world. In particular, Volume 4 is a devastating argument, grounded in staggering collection of evidence, that the Old Testament has no rival as an immoral book, and the author makes a strong case for a late medieval or even a Renaissance forgery. I do not think anyone else has examined the Bible in more detail and with more passion.
