'Now is the time!' Beth promised herself looking into the mirror. 'After this weekend we will be free,' she said aloud as she brushed the soft curls of her hair. She looked good that night in her evening dress. Ben, her husband, walked over to her and looked in the mirror, grabbing her round the waist and holding her close. 'We make a good looking couple,' he added. He was a tall and handsome man even now he was taking early retirement, Beth thought. 'Now is our time,' she whispered in his ear before they left the hotel room.

The company was holding it's annual dinner dance and this year they were celebrating Ben's retirement too. As they walked into the hall, Ben was taken up with shaking hands with his boss and representatives from overseas.

Soon they were on their way in the new car on one of the mini adventures they had planned. True, they had to leave the responsibility of her mother to her sister Carol and her niece who lived nearby. Carol would realise how frail their mother was getting. It would be a shock how dependent she had become. Beth tossed her hair in annoyance and vowed to herself this was her and her husband's time now.

Life has a way of changing all the best laid plans. How would she manage the challenges that were set to disturb her calm and pampered life? How would events change Beth?
