In early 1836, Frederick G. Williams and William W. Phelps published the first hymnal of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Kirtland, Ohio. That tiny, leather-bound volume, only three by four and one-half inches in size, is the substance of this book. It contained ninety hymns, but only the words were included - the Saints were expected to know the tunes by heart.

This publication represents the first time that the 1835 LDS hymnal has ever been published along with its tunes. These hymns truly were sacred to those first Latter-day Saints, and they give us a fascinating insight into the first few years of the Restoration.

This book is best viewed from your desktop on Kindle for PC, or as a .PDF file. Other e-book formats, and smaller display devices, may not have the resolution required to display the music clearly.
