This is the true story of Clancy Jones, a special needs kitten that was born to a feral mother cat in the backyard of two very special people who dearly love cats. Her birth mother had abandoned her out in the rain and she was stuck under a drain pipe. It was there that she and her sister Tinkerbelle were found shortly after their birth, adopted, and taken to live inside the house.

She’s deaf and she won’t let anyone touch her head or ears. She seems content in her own little world, except if someone accidentally touches her when she isn’t looking, and then she almost jumps through the ceiling.

When she was little she had a lot of problems. She would spin in circles and sometimes do it for a long time. She was very wobbly and when she walked she would fall down, and her head would bob all the time. Sometimes it would seem as if her head would turn almost all the way around. Her Mommy & Daddy almost had her put to sleep because they thought she was suffering, but instead they had her ears taken care of, shots, got her spayed and just watched her to make sure she didn’t hurt herself.

As she got older, she started to outgrow those things and got steadier. She still bobs her head when she eats and she has a few other “odd” things that she does, but she is completely happy. When she is asleep someone can bang something over her head or clap really loudly and she won’t even flinch. If someone walks up behind her and touches her, she flips out because she can’t hear you coming.

The first year in Clancy’s life was documented in words and photographs in the book 1st Year in the Life of Clancy Jones – Pen Thief. This book chronicles her second year of life, continuing her life of crime to include becoming a toothbrush thief.
