A writing prompt is an idea to inspire you to write. It is a starting point for those times when you are feeling stuck, when you don’t know what to write, or when you simply want something spontaneous to write about. A prompt can be anything~ it can be a painting that inspires you to write a story about it. It can be a song that you want to make into a short story. It can be random words and names that you put together to create your own tale. The possibilities are endless!

In this book, I’m going to give you 100 writing prompts to get you started. Use them when you feel the dreaded “writer’s block”, or when you want a random topic to write about. I've divided the prompts into four categories: Romance, Scary/Horror, School/Life/Self-Esteem, Family, and Fantasy/Sci-fi. Each category includes 20 prompts that you can write about.

Some of the prompts include:
~ You realize that you have the ability to make anyone fall in love with whomever you choose. This works on school mates, teachers, strangers, movie stars, pop stars, and even yourself. Who do you pair up, and why?
~ There’s a basement in your house that your parents never told you about. You go down there, and you find _____.
~ You've finally found a mix of ingredients that cures your acne. However, the ingredients are icky and gross. What are they?
~ Write a short story from the point of view of a soda can inside a vending machine. What would it feel like to be crowded in there, waiting to be picked?
~ Write about what you think your family ancestors were like.
~ ...and many more!!
